PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma launched the ANC election manifesto at the weekend under the theme "Together we move South Africa forward". Speaking at Nelspruit's Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday‚ he said radical economic transformation would be at the centre of government policy for the next five years.
The five priorities from the ANC's 2009 election manifesto remained‚ including creating decent work and sustainable livelihoods‚ education‚ health‚ rural development‚ food security and land reform‚ as well as the fight against crime and corruption.
However‚ Zuma said‚ the state would also "increase its strategic role in the economy and decisively intervene in the interest of the people‚ particularly the poor and the workers", including state-led "industrialisation".
