RECKLESS road-hogs in Nelson Mandela Bay are literally getting away with murder, causing an increasing number of unnecessary deaths and putting massive pressure on already strained state medical services.
That is the word from a group of frustrated senior doctors at Livingstone Hospital, who said yesterday they were deeply concerned at the lack of visible law enforcement in the city.
The doctors took the unusual step of writing to The Herald after a horror accident in Uitenhage Road on Friday in which the driver of a taxi - believed to be speeding and driving recklessly - was killed and 12 other people were injured.
Among those seriously hurt was 20-year-old Tamsin Brass, who was standing on the pavement when the taxi mowed into her before smashing into a local business.
