Three funeral homes investigated over sale of policies

THREE Eastern Cape funeral homes being investigated by the Financial Services Board (FSB) for illegally selling policies could face a fine or have their licences suspended if found guilty.

The three are part of a group of nine funeral services providers under investigation nationally.

Speelman Family Funeral Home in Zwide, Port Elizabeth, Abomelezi Funeral Services CC in Elliot and Holy Cross, in Coldstream - a village in the Tsitsikamma area - were recently named in the list of illegal operators, with the FSB cautioning the public to be careful when choosing a funeral policy.

FSB spokeswoman Tembisa Marele said they would decide what action to take once the probe was complete.
