A PORT Elizabeth traffic officer was robbed of her private vehicle at gunpoint in Algoa Park early yesterday.
Port Elizabeth police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the woman, who was not identified, was leaving for work at about 8am when she was approached by three men.
"She had got out of her car to close her gate. One of the men was armed. They threatened her and demanded that she give them her firearm. She told them she did not have a firearm. At that point two more men arrived. The woman was then searched for a firearm, but none was found," Janse van Rensburg said.
She said the men then got into the officer's vehicle and left.
"At 11am, the vehicle was discovered abandoned in Zwide. No injuries were incurred and no arrests have yet been made.
"The traffic officer was however quite traumatised. The police are investigating a case of armed robbery." - Herald Reporter
