DA's Wylde up against ousted Slabbert

THE DA has fielded business consultant and former banker Rob Wylde as its candidate to contest the Nelson Mandela Bay Ward 1 by-election in April.

Wylde will be up against former Ward 1 councillor Stanford Slabbert, who was booted out of the DA last year.

Slabbert will stand as an independent and is confident he has enough support to once again take over the reins as Summerstrand's ward councillor.

The ANC and UDM have not yet decided on their candidates, while COPE said it would not contest the by-election, which is scheduled to take place on April 2.
