No breaking of the law on my watch, Mkavu vows

“IF I have to be public enemy number one then so be it, but I will always do things correctly within the prescripts of the law.”

These were the opening remarks of Nelson Mandela Bay’s human settlements political boss, councillor Buyisile Mkavu, yesterday at his first portfolio committee meeting of the year.

Mkavu was responding to The Herald’s December report card of the various municipal departments, which said he was a dynamic leader who did not shy away from confronting challenges but criticised him for lacking compassion when dealing with Motherwell residents who invaded the NU11 Stadium last year.

Mkavu said he could not allow people to jump the RDP housing queue.
