POLICE fired rubber bullets to disperse angry residents of Uitenhage’s western suburbs yesterday after they rampaged through streets on the outskirts of the central business district to demand land from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.

The protest followed the massive riots in November which claimed the life of an 11-year-old girl and resulted in hundreds of thousands of rands in damage to offices, houses and other infrastructure.
