Cops urge vigilance after spate of house robberies

SEVEN houses have been robbed in Nelson Mandela Bay since Sunday, police said yesterday.

The robberies occurred in Sardinia Bay, Mount Croix, Motherwell, Kwazakhele and Zwide.

One of the more recent robberies happened in Sardinia Bay yesterday when a woman, 61, was attacked on a smallholding. Three men armed with knives confronted her at about 1am.

"The woman was watching TV when she heard the dogs barking outside and turned on the exterior lights. She saw the three men who then broke a window and gained entry to the house," police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said.

The men held her at knifepoint and rummaged through the house.
