New uniforms bring joy for Joe Slovo pupils

23 January 2014

THE Sophakama Care and Support Organisation helped distribute school uniforms to 120 orphaned and vulnerable children from the Joe Slovo Primary School yesterday.

Joe Slovo Primary was chosen as the beneficiary because of the dire need among pupils at the school.

The Joe Slovo area is one of the poorest in the city.

Sophakama, which receives its funding from Nacosa, has provided school uniforms to underprivileged pupils for the past three years.

Programme manager Michael Matanzima said apart from providing pupils with uniforms, the organisation also assisted them with maths and creative writing and identified those who needed help with communication skills.
