ABOUT a hundred eager young swimmers from Port Elizabeth’s northern and township areas will miss out on what is considered to be the highlight event of their sporting year.

As a result of budget cuts by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, development swimmers from Motherwell, Kwazakhele and Gelvandale - who were participating in the municipal Learn to Swim programme - will miss out on this year’s Redhouse River Mile on February 27.
